box reboots after flashing image

Hmmm once I loaded this onto my 500c I get the digital-kaos boot screen then it like makes a beep and goes black. Then goes back to digital kaos boot screen

Reflash using Dreamup and a null modem cable.

When I click connect in dreamup it says onnection prepared now turn on dreambox. The dreambox is turned on. It keeps rebooting itself

what to do next?

Follow the guide exactly.

The box needs to power off before you click connect. Once you click connect it syas power on, then you power on. Obviously you need to have the null modem cable connected to the dreambox and PC.

If it still reboots, your com settings are not correct, i.e. com1, or your cable is not a null modem cable, maybe it's a serial or rs232 cable.

just bought the nikkai null modem cable from maplin so must be the pc

Moved to its own thread, not really a DK image problem.

Check that your cable is connected to com1 on your PC and that dreamup says com1. Make sure the 'use network' checkbox is UNchecked on dreamup. There are a few versions of dreamup, maybe try another one.

When I log into hyperterminal I get repetitive lines (screenshot in attachment)

DreamUp says power on the box and turn it on, which I have. Just not working. It is definately a null modem cable as it was pre-packaged. Is there a certain end which is to go into the dreambox or are they identical?

Using a brand new null cable and dreamup running on windows xp I start the proceedure. Dream up is waiting for connection.

As soon as I plug the power in the dreamup program displays

18:52:46 box type: DM500

And will go no further. Should I take the cable back? Have set the com port up in device manager to match hyperterminal configuration.

You'll get the latest version from dream-multimedia-tv.de. All other versions used to be on there aswell, you might need to google it for them.

Was using rhe newest version.

Just got 1.2.1.5 out of a thread on here. Tried it. This time it still says the box typeM500 but the 'now power on the dreambox' has changed to 'initiating flash-loader upload' but doesnt actually move the blue line at all. Doesn't seem to be doing anything. No hard drive activity. Should I leave it for a long time?

After having looked at it and have a friend look at it (who flashes dreambox' regularly) he has said the bootloader is screwed. Only way out would probably be to JTAG it. Now he has never done this and neither of us want to attempt it.

Is there anyone who charges to JTAG dreamboxes or would you recommend selling it on ebay and buying another?

JTAGS are probably ?10 -?15, new dm500 is probably ?39. As neither of you have ever used a JTAG there is no guarantee it will work. I would flog it on ebay as faulty and buy myself another box.
