    Using IFA - Help

    Hi guys

first time poster, ive been having a nightmare the last few days, i tried rescanning my channels the other day but ended up losing them all, now when i scan i only get channels but im missing a good few i previously had, i thought it was my signal but ive tried my box at a friends house and ended up with the same result, decided to go for a new image in the hope it would rectify this, ive got ifa, but when i power up the dbox so it connects with the pc it says- waiting for dbox to connect. im using a straight ethernet cable as i hve a router- is this correct? should i use a xover cable? should i use a null modem cable? is there any sort of guide for this kind of thing?

    Regards

I had exactly same problem with the "waiting for Dbox start" message. I was then told by a expert on here to also use a NULL CABLE. BINGO!!

worked first time. Spend the ?2.50 on a Null cable and all should be fine.

Try setting your location before scanning.
If you have an image on there and its booting ok then an ethernet cable is enough. You won't need the null modem cable. Just start up IFA, go through the steps, and plug in the dbox when told.

It's not essential that you use a null modem cable. When the box boots, IFA needs to interrupt the boot process and take over. Sometimes the boot process skips past and IFA misses it so the box just boots up as normal. You can press the UP ARROW and STANDBY buttons on the front of the box together and the box will reboot, you may need to do this 50 times before IFA interrupts it, it may only take you 2 times, who knows.

BUT...if you use a null modem cable aswell as your ethernet cable, the boot process halts for a few seconds and it gives IFA the chance to shoot in and take over.

You can go through your router, that's not a problem, just use a null modem cable aswell and you'll be set! In the meantime, try the up arrow and standby buttons together a few 50 times or so , it might work.
