    27th December

    Hi all,

My mate was at his work on Friday and by chance the customer worked for VM and he was telling him that Sky are going to zap all boxes for VM and they will be secured the same way that SKY boxes are secured. The date for the disaster he told him was the 27th December, yip, old firm day. And the guy told him that there will be no way round it apart from a chipped card which still runs ok on a dbox or VM own box. Anybody heard of this same problem?

I know you are only curious breadman but there is a different date for this zapping every other day, rumour, rumour, rumour. They cannot go to nagra 3 without it affecting every box including subbed boxes, they will need to supply us with a new card or something.

If and when it ever happens then so be it, but no sense worrying about something that your m8 heard from customer. FFS dont be be telling this to the trees....cos they will tell the birds and bees and everyone will know.

I swear I am just going to leave forums if we constantly get these type of threads, if I am pi$$ed off with them how do you think newbies feel.

yeh , we are getting more and more of these rumour threads.

we will know when it happens as all paying subscribers will have to be notifieid in advance , that we are all getting new cards to cope with the new system.

i bet my bottom dollar that most of these rumours come from VM staff trying to scare peeps into subscribe to them, .

Well i hope they are reading this post, as sky are giving a free 12 month family package and installation to new customers, this is true as i know peeps getting them installed from Tuesday.

So think what you want, i am sure if i was worried i will be getting the sky package.

Yeh mate thinking about it, it really sounds like a ploy to get folk to sign up to their service. But as you say Sky are offering the 12mnth free package to newbies so it's a ploy that might backfire on them and lose them customers right, left and centre. I don't intend to scare or start rumours bud I was only trying to be helpful by saying what i had been told by my mate who installs TV's for a living and he thot it good to tell me what he'd been told. So apologies for sticking up this thread feel free to delete it mate.

You were curious and you asked the question.

My comment about being pi$$ed of with rumour threads was not directed at you....just at all the rumour threads which we are getting daily from someone....and we will get them again, I assure you of that.

Just ignore me, I am in a foul mood.

personally i think with the amount of boxes in the uk stealing from v*m it has probably now become cost effective to do something about it.....still don't understand why they just don't disconnect every household who doesn't subscribe to anything.....get rid off the leechers and i bet they see a massive increase in min packages....i've heard the 23rd

I totally agree about the leechers of cable. I pay my subs and its not a mininum package, its only right to pay something.

                    Has anyone else seen

I saw an advert form virgin media this morning on sky sports, warning people about dodgy boxes, never seen them do that before.

I too pay for bb, 17 quid a month, i think part of the problem with the cable scene is far too many ppl with naughty boxes and not paying vermin anything at all, no company can sustain or tolerate this, hence all the talk about nag3.

Not saying that the non payers are the only reason but based on the amount of naughty boxes there must be in this country i think the amount of non payers could be substantial, and if all payed for something it would mean a lot more income for vermin, imo
