what img u using? cant think of reasons why u can't connect thru router with a normal ethenet of direct with a crossover.....try using the pc - router cable...swap them over just to eliminate the cables....

Another idea is to change the dbox's IP address again on the router as there might be another device that is connected to it and using that same IP. Best thing to do is if you have a few devices connected in the house is to "Ipconfig /all" them all. Then you know what IP's are not avalible to you and then you can use one that is open . If you are currently choosing an IP that is being uesd it will not connect to the router without that device off as the IP is hard coded.

My only idea from work in other IT areas this always annoys me with my laptop onto different networks.

You have said before that you can use a null modem cable fine. So if this is a working method why dont you just do that method instead of using your router and crossovers?

is ur dhcp server the same addy as ur router?

                      dhcp.jpg

maybe worth trying a static address

dhcp isn't enabled. Does anyone know if hyper terminal can be used to ftp missing files?

From looking at the guide it doesnt look like the easiest way (even if it is possible which i am not sure). Im just having a google to see if you can ftp through the null modem cable.

                          edit:
                          Null FTP Server Pro 1.0.7
That program looks like something worth taking a look at.
