What's the ip address of your dbox? Is that set up correctly? Is your PC connected to the internet wirelessly? If so you'll need to disable the wireless connection first before connecting to the dbox.

I think the PC has to be lower ip address than the box,
I set the box to 192.168.1.101

        and the Pc/Laptop to 192.168.1.50

        Try that

Also if you are connecting directly to the box, and not via a router, make sure on the box the lines for default gateway and dns server blank and do not have ip address set.
