Please, correct me if i'm worong! DBox 2

Please, i think i understand quiet well how to flash the dbox 2 and i am write the way i am going to do this on saturday camming, but first i want to make sure i am not going to damage the device, instead do the magic thing.

Please read quick and see at list if i am in the right way more or less. I am still confused with some things, but i hope you'd help me!



Hardware: Dbox 2 (Linux Neutrino)
2 Intel Processors
Nullmodem cable
croossover cable
spliter
adapter f to coaxial

Software: Image Flash Assistant (Nullmodem Cable)
Flashfxp (FTP)

Image: Sportster-Pro-2.00-rc001-2xl.imag(I hope this one is good)

Services: Files and Bouquets (Central Scotland)09/12/2008(That's the right one for me for new channels)

Rooms: Nagraeeprom 7,Nagraeeprom 10,Nagraeeprom 11
Nagraram 7, Nagraram 10, Nagraram 11
Nagrarom 7, Nagrarom 10, Nagrarom 11

That's the way i am going to flash the Dbox, if i am doing some thing worong, please tell me.

1-So, the physical connection like peer to peer from pc to dbox plus static ip address and get the ip from the dbox i am confident.

2-I am confident as well in how to make a backup from the dbox 2 as well, as i watched the videos.


3-After i am going to flash it, with a nullmodem cable using the software Image flashing Assistant, i gonna upload the image spostster pro to the Dbox, following the instructions from the guide pdf.
PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WORONG!

4-Setup my area.
I am going to use the software Flashfxp and a crossover cable to upload services.xml and bouquets.xml(Central scotland)
Again following the instructions from the guide pdf.

Now i want to know please. In wich stage do i have to put the rooms?
What software can i use for upload then to the right folder on the dbox2?
Do the rooms update the keys automaticly through the receiver or do i have to use the software Master key, to insert the keys manually with the remote control?

Flash new image= i think i'll be ok
Setting my area= i think i'll be ok
Rooms= I really don't know about this()

I hope be able to Flash this box on Saturday! I bought two botlle of wines for saturday but i'll better drink then after i finish flash my receiver.

Id go with the Laky image myself.

The roms and stuff need to go in the keys folder : bin/var/keys

Trial and error - thats how i learnt.

In step 3 you want to have your ethernet cross over cable connected as well as the serial link (NULLMODEM) connected.
I think you only need the Nargr*** 7 files loaded. You can just FTP them to the directory ../var/keys.
"Core FTP lite" is a free ftp package which will allow you to do this.

u will also need emu installed if these do not come with the image

Do i upload the rooms or room 7 after flash and after i transfered the service&bouquet or before? Please

Hi Ped101, the emu doesn't came with the image, and i know some of then could macth well with the image.
Do you know where can i download the emu, like in rapidshare or another site?
I believe i have to upload the emu with crossover cable as well to the box 2, and when can i upload then? After i flashed and uploaded the services and rooms, or doesn't matter wich other?


Sorry about the questions like primary school, i just want to make things clear.

(Can,t wait to watch spy scort 1,2,3 on Saturday i am so so so happy)

You can use a ftp program to flash your image to your box and all the other files that you need for your box to work.

You can get the emu's from here>>>>>>>>>>>emu's
Then input them after you have flashes your image the only one you need is Evocamd transfer to var/bin/emu
The k#ya go in var/k#Y's
The service & bouquets go in var/tuxbox/config/zapit
Transfer all these files after you have flased your image

For some reason while i am here reading a lot about this, i'll tell you, my ****.... dog was in the kcthen play with the dbox remote control in his mouth, i heard the noise and when i got to the ktchen the remote control was on the floor and i couldn't even find the batteries for that. Its only with me this things happen, i am gonna through this dog from the window, belive me i am on the top floor or otherwise i'll flash its brain to see if he can be quiet.

I don't belive i hope he didn't brick the remote control

I am sorry to say that the xover cable or null modem will not work on the dog so if i find a way to flash the dog i will let you know.
