    Help wanted please

    Hi there,

I am looking at a dbox2 for a friend. On switching on it states no chanells found, and on looking at the guides on here it states to use software with a crossover cable, however I only have a null modem cable with usb adapter. I have no idea where to go from here so any help would be greatly appreciated

In your shoes I would go and buy myself a crossover cable and then go and have a good look at the guides. Once you've had a really good read through, take a deep breath and have a crack!

For the sake of a fivespot you might as well just get a cable bought TBH.

If you have an ethernet cable spare and do not need it you can make it into a xover cable

          1. Cut sleeve off wire.
          2. Cut the green wire then the orange wire.
          3. Then get some connection blocks then connect green to orange then orange to green
          4. Then wrap in insulation tape
Now you have a xover cable

I still have no channels on dbox2 after purchasing a crossover cable, the image on the box is lincsat 7.25 FTA, and I have used Flashfxp to communicate with dbox and I thought I had transferred over the correct files, and after scanning all transponders I still have no channels?

Have you read the guides available. What exactly have you done. When you flashed the box and rebooted what did you do then ?

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

I flashed box with the lincsat image, then downloaded FlashFXP and can communicate with box using crosover cable, however I am unsure as to what I should be transferring to the box for my area and where it should be going?

Ok quick tut Flash the image to the TMP directory of your dbox. On the remote DBOX BUTTON\SERVICES\IMAGE UPGRADE\FLASH ONE PARTITION\FLASH WITHOUT BOOTLOADER,the image you loaded to tmp directory will show up. Highlight it and flash it.

When the image has flashed reconnect to new image via ftp. You need to transfer latest files to the image as follows. KEYS into VAR\KEYS ....... UCODES into VAR\TUXBOX\UCODES.........EMUS into VAR\BIN\EMU..............If you have service filers and bouquets for your area they go into VAR\TUXBOX\CONFIG\ZAPIT.
If you don't have service files do a scan and the service file will be updated. Reboot box and leave on premium channel for a couple of minutes and you should be up and running.
