how to load new image/rom

Hi all,

ive read the guide w.r.t how to FTP an image to the DBOX2. i have connected to the box, transferred the files at elast 15times by now.

I know that the file is on the other side; i.e. the sportster 2.00 of 8mb in thw tmp folder. now when i go to my dbox menu to try and WRITE PARTITON...the file is not here. i search for it, and it does not show.

Now when i go back to load it again, its there, so i delete it and repeat the process, and yet still no IMAGE FILE is available in order to update the kernel?

im baffled now as into what to do; i dont have a null modem cable, so cant flash it via hyperlink; or have i understood that wrong and is in actual fact what i need to do?

So all help really appreciated; i need to know how to flash my nokia dbox 2 with SPORTSTER 1.4 on it at the mo.

I assume this 8mb file contains all the EMU and keys, or am i wrong in that sense and thus need to download more files?

also you dont write you flash without bootloader

images dont contain the roms, keys and emus m8. If you can... SAVE your old image and any important files.. ie emu files, evocamd etc before you flash. I didnt that is why I am telling you to do it. I had a god few hours of heartache getting the required files.

Make sure you copy the .img file to the /tmp folder, not the rar file.

Do not power the box off after transferring the image, if you do all the files will be deleted because the /tmp folder is RAM.

Write one Partition
Flash without Bootloader

Choose img name, press Yes.

How do i change the GERMAN LANGUAGE to ENGLISH forthe SPORTSTER, do i need to upload an ENGLISH FILE?

I'd flash an image that was designed for UK cable.

Don't go with a commando image just yet, more modding required with those to get it working. Choose one of the other ones, they should all be in English.

you guys took the words right out of my mouth! having loaded the COMMANDO due to the lack of english in the SPORTSTER, i found it really very easy to use!

but my q to you guys is: where do i get the roms, emus from, like can anyone pm me. i know where to get the keys, but is that all i need?

i already have SPORTSTER running on one of my other boxes, does it mater that the NEW DBOX2 is running COMMANDO, will emus work? if so then i wil just copy and paste it over; as well as the ROM files?

The old SPORTSER image was not working; however i have a newer SPORTSER image on another WOKRING DBOX in the house; can the EMU and ROM files interchange between SPORTSER and COMMANDO?

if so, its a mere copy and paste into the right folder job isnt it?

EMU: goes into var/bin/emu

KEY(ROM FILE): goes into similiar folder, var/bin/keys

You can back up the fully working image by going into DBOX\SERVICE\IMAGE UPGRADE/BACKUP\BACK UP ONE PARTTION\FLASH WITHOUT BOOTLOADER It will save the image in the TMP folder as MTD3.IMG FTP this to your computer and flash the image to the other non working box. Everything will be as it was on the working box. Bouquets etc
