Put the router ip address in the 'default gateway' section, enable DHCP, save settings and reboot box.

Go back into network page and you will see the ip address, use this when connecting with your FTP program.

After you have noted the dbox address you could try and ping to it.

Note: Make sure your network connection is enabled in Windows XP/2000.

Go to Start and click on Run. Type in cmd on Run window and click OK.
put in the window your address something like (ping 192.168.1.105 ) without the brackets then enter

If all is well you will receive feedback on the screen if not

proceed to ping router IP address. if you receive Request timed out, check your computer network information such as IP address, subnet mask and router to make sure set up correctly. Make sure router is up also.

If you can ping the router IP, then you should be able to ping the other computers or dbox in your network.

do you know what the ip address of your pc is m8 ?

you need dbox ip set to the same range as your pc
so if pc is 192.168.0.100 then anything like 192.168.0.101 to 254 will do for the dbox. Also check your subnet it's probably 255.255.255.0 set dbox to same as your pc. Your gateway will probably be your router address i.e 192.168.0.1

when on a network through a router you dont need a crossover cable you need a normal cable
only need a crossover when direct to pc from dbox

Usually if the router is 192.168.1.1

I think the addresses should be 192.168.1.101 --- 192.168.1.102 etc.

I can't understand why your pc address is at .2 at the end
