    NULL MODEM CABLE

    I just purchased a null modem cable , one end fits dbox but dont have anything to fit the other end on my lappy , what type of null modem cable do i need ? also bought a crossover adapter , but when i use it lappy says network cable unplugged , if i take it off and use normal serial cable it says limited connection , does this me3an adapter is knackered?

      if your laptop hasn't got null modem port u need a serial adapter so u can conect usb serial to null modem

        i got a null with female at both ends and used a USB serial converter to one of my com ports.
        that works a treat
        ebay is great for pictures and prices
        hope that helps

          thanks guys , think ive found out why crossover adapter aint working , i think its because the patch cable already a crossover

            Null modem cable requires a comm port on the laptop, most modern laptops dont have comm ports anymore.
