Dbox2 questions

Hi Guys

I have been using this forum now for a while but only on the eurovox side with help form HiTeck, Satsmo and Devilfish not to mention any more. I can say that I am pretty competent with Eurovox's

I have deceided to help a friend out who has a Dbox2. He is fed up being charged ?30 to recode his box when channels go missing so I thought I would step in and try to help him out.

The first problem is he lives in and NTHELL area and I am in a Telepest area so I will not be able to check I have done it correctly until I get to his house.

Are the same principles applied to the Dbox2 of 6.952 for
TW and 6.887 NTHELL for scanning for channels after the box is flashed?

To get the box up and running is it the same as the Eurovox by which you just flash it with the latest firmware and then rescan

I have had a look through the stickes and I don't understand the image part, is this the same as firmware.

Is there any way that I could brick the box by accident? Only because it is not mine.

yes m8 everything you do on a box will work in both areas except for the channels so a rescan would be needed.

if you're just gunna ftp keys/roms over then you cant brick it, even changing the image all u can get is kein system which is easily rectified using IFA

As you may know dbox is so simple and straight forward so don?t think is hard to get an image and flash it to the dbox.
However in order to fix your M8 dbox you need 2 types of cables and I am sure you have them because you?re already worked on Eurovox.
You need to download 2 applications that you will use for dbox.
1) IFA (flashing Image Assistant) to flash your preferred to Dbox
Digital Kaos - Downloads - Image Flashing assistant
2) FTP Client application to transfer the Fix to dbox.
Digital Kaos - Downloads - Filezilla FTP Free to use
once you get the 2 above applications you need an image to flash to dbox.
Before you download any image you have to know what type of dbox you have?
Is it compatible with x1.image or x2.image and to find out is not too complicated just use this application:
Digital Kaos - Downloads - Check Flash Type
3) You must setup your Local area connection first to communicate with dbox. Just look around in Digital Kaos you will find a video explaining all for you.
4) Turn the firewall off and sometimes you need turn your antivirus off too (make sure you are disconnected from Internet) this action will help you to FTP the needed stuff to your dbox without any interruption.
