dbox2, stream information is all decent. Good signal, low BER, good SNR. No channels. Rescan finds nothing, no time found on LED, just reads 0100 as per when not connected.

Reflashed with a couple of different images. No joy.

Anything else I can try before I chuck it in the bin?

What image is on your box at the moment?

    Have you set your location?

Don't have boot manager, will go and have a look for it and get back to you...

EDIT: the image I currently have on it is the old Sportster 6. (IIRC) and I now know what you mean re. bootloader but don't have null modem. Will get back to you...

You got me thinking Paul because your bootmanager reference reminded me about the fact I was using the portable IFA. I'd not used this for too long and realised the one you install has the bootmanager stuff.

I tried using the IFA you install. No joy. Tried again...disco! It's worked.

I'm leaving this puppy well alone now, she may well be on the cusp of passing over!

Thank you for your post, it got me thinking and pushed me on. I should have tried the differnt IFA before I posted but you know what it's like, you fret a bit and common sense disappears!

Me too fella, thanks for your input helping me bounce the thoughts around in my head. Without it I could well have admitted defeat needlessly.

Disaster! Got home tonight and the symptoms have returned. Tried flashing again with the installed IFA (which incidentally has boot manager running with it but that will be no use until I get my null modem cable, which will hopefully be tomorrow).

Weird in that I did actually get to flash the image on it last night and it worked. It all seems to have gone alright, all menus there and bouquets and so forth.

Signal, SNR and BER are all perfect yet it's as if there is no signal going in because the time starts at 0100.

I'm getting hold of the relevant cable to get more information asap. In the meantime is there anything else I can try? Any value to using a different IFA (I've tried two already)? Any suggestions whilst I'm waiting to pick up this cable welcome.

I'm annoyed because it worked last night, it's like it wants to work. It isn't bin material just yet I don't think!

Okay gents, at my bro's now and have brought up the box. He has null modem and we've run it through bootmanager.

CPU with silicon errors is a worry but TBH this is the first experience I have at looking through a boot log!

Can anyone spot anything that could be causing my problem? Again, any advice greatly appreciated and general info as to what I'm looking at here would also be useful as any opportunity to learn, even in a bad situation, has to be a good thing overall.

No, that was with no cable feed as I was at my bro's at the time so we just did a quick job on it. I've got a cable here now so I'll go connect it up and repeat it.

                        Cheers,

                        D

Well, I'm having some issues with physically connecting the box to cable whilst obtaining a script from bootmanager. ie. I can't connect everything up close enough together!

Looks like I may have to wait until Tuesday when I next visit at my bro's.

In the meantime thanks for your help.

                          To be continued...

I've pretty much given up on the box now in terms of functionality but would really like to know what's up with it because I've put a bit of effort into this. Knowing why it doesn't work would be a small, moral victory!

The above error is saying the SEC chip is faulty
unplug from mains take the lid off stay away from the psu as it holds a charge
clean around the sec chip legs and around that area with a fine brush
check the bootlog again if the error still appears its gubbed
