    dbox shows inactive network

    Hi
I am struggling to connect to one of my dboxes. Have tried filezilla and pinging with network returning message host unreachable. I have even tried a direct crossover cable connection with static address for my laptop but still cant ping. I think I have traced the problem to dbox showing an inactive network message. Any advice on what to do to get network up and running again
    thanks

If you Have changed Ip of D Box
    To suit your network card
    In settings
    restart network now
    You will see it Blink
    It should connect now
    If not lets know ...................Paul

        dbox > Settings > Network

Now this could be a classic case of:

Start Network on Boot = Off
        DHCP = On

If so, turn the first one to On and the second one to Off, then try again. Don't forget to press Red to Start Network after you've set the addresses, and Save Settings on the way back out.

        Cheers- AL

          Hi
thanks for to advise but I have allready checked all the usual settings My settings are as follows

          dhcp - off
          ip address 192.168.1.3
          default gateway 192.168.1.1

for laptop I changed to static ip 192.168.1.2 When I try crossover cable to connect box and pc or via a router (192.168.1.1) I get the response that remote host is unreachable or with filezilla that connection is establshed ,waiting on message and then error message - coud mot connect to server. I use the exact same connection when testing my other box (both sagem) and it pings and connects perfectly. If I check the faulty box it says inactive network when checking active connection settings. This is where I am stuck. How do I set up ajust need to get the box to respond
          thnks

            Hi
I have managed to flash a backup working image from my only box that i can FTP into to the other 2 that don't react via a null modem cable. I am now able to get a gateway reachable response from the 2 troublesome boxes when pinging them but using the exact same network settings that Iuse for my usable one Istill get a message of destination host not reachable with filezilla and other ftp programs that I have tried. I have tried connecting directly with crossover cable and straight through router but these 2 boxes remain unresponsive. Is there something that Iam missing in the dbox setup. Cable and all connections have been tested with the responsive box and everything works fine everytime with it..
Thak you in anticipation for any advise from one of you clever persons because I feel useless in not being abl e to sort out this connection problem.
            thanks

                HI
I am using the andomeda image with root and dbox2 for login. II have a fully working setup on one of my boxes but for some strange reason I can ping the other 2 boxes and can even get the dbox home screen (yweb) on pc but using same ip address (192.168.1.3) and router gateway(192.168.1.1) which has allways worked fine on all my boxes for some obscure reason I get an error when trying to ftp them. It is not a problem with the login details but I will supply them in case somebody might pick up any mistakes

                hostname 192.168.1.3
                user root
                password dbox2
                default gateway 192.168.1.1
                dhcp off
                start network on boot
filezilla message Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server".
Error: Could not connect to server

                helppppppppppppppppp
ps I know these settings are correct because they work well with one of the boxes. I think that the network controller or something to that effect needs to be rest on the box to allow it to talk to the network. Are ther any command that can force the box to release its present state and allow a new connection

thanks for all the help sofar
