    Nokia DBox2 new tuner needed

    Hi guys

I have backed up my working image which auto updates off my Sagem and ftp'd it across to my Nokia and get the 'waiting for time' message.

I've bought the signal booster from Argos but it still won't display channels so I'm convinced the tuner has had it.

The BER is through the roof, SNR is 54000 ish and the bitrate is 0.... after feeding direct from the wall no splitters through the booster.

I'm about ready to give it up as a lost cause unless anyone can fill me with confidence to replace the tuner, point me in the direction of a replacement or offer me a paid service to replace the tuner for me......

Otherwise it's going up the loft or on ebay as spairs/repair..

    Thanks

if it is the tuner forget about changing it thers around 20 small soldered pins holding it in!, maybee it isnt the tuner, im sure someone will advise you on your readings though.

Might just need the BFG94 in the tuner changing

Is this quite a straightforward thing to do?

        Thanks

There is a video knocking about on utube shows you how to change it they desolder the tuner from the board
but it can be done without doing so
Have you tried it on a different (mates) feed to see if you get the same result.

No haven't tried it on any other feed than my own.

My Sagem has no trouble scanning off a split feed. I can try it at the mother in laws house as it's in a different location so I'll try setting location and scanning there.

I'll take the signal booster with me too before I return it to Argos for refund.

If you replace the BFG94 IC and the fault is still there, it could possibly be the small surface mount capacitor that is next to the BFG94 that needs replaced.

Maybe you've flashed a 1x image to a 2x nokia, some sagems have 1 chip and nearly all nokia's have 2 so check that out.
If you have you can convert your 1x image to a 2x image,I'm sure the converter is in the download section.
                Best of luck

There are three items in the tuner it could be it seems to be a knock on affect but usually its the first one but so if you can solder fix the problem its alot cheaper than changing the tuner but make sure you have a good look into the cable in port because alot of times its them which are the problem and not the tuner parts inside I have read some where the nokia has more problems there than the sagem it could be something silly on the tuner which you can mod all the best I have one like it myself

Thanks for all your assistance guys.

It's definately a 2X image the same as my Sagem.

I'll try the image in the link first then if still no joy, I'll have a look into maybe the connection at the back of the box is at fault.

                      Once again, cheers everyone.

                        Hi again guys

Sorry for keep, keeping on but I've opened up the DBox and it appears the tuner has already had a tampering as the case is damaged.

I've taken the cover off the tuner exposing the the back of the antenna and I may be mistaken, but shouldn't there be a coil or wire coming from the centre of the antenna port that then goes into the circuit board?

I've drawn a red arrow on to illustrate the position where I think it should be.

Thanks again for any input guys...
