What benefits - New more mordern Image ?

    Hi there,

This is my forst post so excuse by inexperience.

I have a Sagem with the Sportster 1.2 image that is fine save for not getting BBC 3 an 4. I'm a little afraid of flashing to a newer image for the sake of it in case it all goes wrong.

What benefits do newer images give over older ones like the one I have currently..any addiontal feature, picture quality etc.

    cheers

    Better EPG
    Net id scan settings
Nutrino and Enigma images in one image
You will prob have to flash at one stage

      Hi,

This is a coincidence. I've got a sagem with sportster and am trying to update the image via the remote but not sure what to press for fear of messing up. I've put the new laky image in the tmp folder.

I press Service and then select Image Update/Restore/Backup. Then select Flash Read/Write.

Then confronted with 5 options. Read Whole Image. Write Whole Image. Read One Partition(Backup). Write One Partition(Restore). Config File.

Not sure which one to select.

PS. IFA did not work for me so going down the ftp route.

Write one partition pal, then you get another set of choices, so you choose Flash WITHOUT bootloader, then a pop up asking are you sure, just press Red for yes. It will erase flash and then re write new flash.

Cheers mate. After Flash without bootloader I only get a cancel option and nothing else.

That'll be because its started to erase and flash. The only thing you can do when a flash starts is cancel it to stop the flash.

If the file you Transfered is not there
You have transfered to the wrong location
              Or switched off the box
              If box is switched off
Image will be lost from temp folderHope This Helps ....Paul

I think this may be it. I switch off the box to take it downstairs to the tv and when I navigate to the tmp folder via the remote, the image is gone.

Thanks mate...I'll have another go without switching off the box.

Dont forget you can navigate through the sections by viewing the lcd screen so you dont have to take it to the telly.

Cheers guys, you've been a great help. All sorted...the laky-sylas is a bit choppy on this sagem 1chip so may try another image later.

The link on the other thread for the real magic files helped as well...ftp'ed them across to the said files and bingo!

Glad your up and running mate, you've also learned a lot about your box, It can takle ages sometimes to guide someone through the the ftp side of things, never mind the magic files well done mate. Keep flashing until you find something that works well with your box.
