Strange Sagem Dbox problem.........

I aquired a spare sagem dbox from a friend that was not working right. I have a live feed coming into the building already and I have a box already, working prefect, so I know that it is working ok. I did more checks on the box and found a strange thing happening to it. If you reboot the box and set the location before you do a scan it picks up the channels, tell you that it has finnished the scan and another box pops up and then then says that no channels found . It will run for a minute or two then freese and then the screen goes blank then if you check the channels again there isn't any, it's as if it has not stored the channels at all. If you then go to scan again it will not find any channels at all. To get it to work, you have to reboot it again and go through it setup all again. Is there something wrong with the box, I dont know if it is the tuner or the motherboard , but something is wrong with it. As a last resort I copied over the services and bouquets files from the working box to see if that would help but to no avail . I am banging my head with this one. Can someone let me know if they have had a similar problem .

Have you tried backing up the full image from the working box and flashing to the problem box? The two should be identical then

Hi there thanks for the reply. I have tried what you suggested and I am still getting the same result, it works for about 2 to 3 mins ok then freezes and gives me the error channel not available. Then you have to reboot to get it to work again and then it gets the same all over again. It's driving me nuts.......

try older images working your way up to newer you should find one thats ok on the box.

I would say a hardware fault as opposed to a software one if you are using a complete backup image and the same cables etc. Sounds like the tuner has a dry solder joint and as it heats up the connection is lost (after the 2 or 3 mins you describe). You could try "touching up" the solder ponts on the tuner, you have nothing to lose

going at it with a soldering iron could fff it if you dont know what your doing

you can only say its a hardware fault after you have tried other images
sagem are known for being very fussy on the image they work with
i have one that will only wrk on spster image i get the same lock ups uesing other ones.

Thanks for getting this to work for me, but every now and again it will freeze. It will work when first go to a channel , but if you are watching a channel for a while and then switch to another channel it will freeze on me. sometimes all I have to do is go up or down one channel and go back to the one that I was on, and sometime I have to reboot to get it to work. I have messed about with the ucodes but to noavail, tried changing from 0014 to 001A and visversa, is there anything else that I could try. Oh and why does one image work better than others, I thought that all the images are supposed to be similar.

its just the odd thing with sagems they seem to like one image
so keep on trying other images but save a working copy of the one you have working.

hi mate same as you i have a sagem unit and it does the same thing , i have tried lots of images but they all seem to do the same thing (got Lincsat.Beta7.25-Full) on it at the mo and its doing it on this one to .
i am a noob to this and i am playing with this box for fun as i have a EUROVOX max .
but i am trying all images i can find just to try ,
tried the sportster images but they just lock the box but only on the incripted channels FTA channels are ok ???.
if you find a solution please let me know thanks
