Combining 2 Images

Hi there,

I have a Sportster 1.73 image and also the Commando 10d.

I would like to take the files that gives me 'full viewing functionality' you what I mean.... from the existing sportster image and fit these into the commando image I have.

Looking at NewTuxbox which of these folders do I need to retain from the original image and move to the new image :-

Keys
EMU
Plugins
lib

any more or exclude any of the above ?

commando 10d has no camds in the emu folder, remember to chmod to 755....and copy over ur services and bouquets and back up ur original img first

And EMU if you are using Commando 10 as there is no EMU.

make a back up of working image
download New Tuxflash program
you then use new tuxflash to take any files you may need from
the backed up image save on pc then ftp over to new image
(you can also use new tuxflash to look to see where the files go)

This is what I've just done and same prob as other night...I can copy services.txt and emu folder over but when I try to copy Keys folder or anything in it over the dbox flashfxp simply gives an error also same for any contents in plugins folder...its as if these are write protected...I can copy from these to the PC but not the other way.... any ideas ?

img may have gone read-only - best to reflash and start again

Yeh..this worked and copied all across......

Still no joy....I have copied across all contents from keys folder on working sportster image and copied EMU folder ....

checked keys are correct

tried evocam and the mgcam one....

still no joy only FTA...

went back to old sportster 2 and may stay with that until my sanity returns.....

it all seems so simple -flash the imamge copy your keys - roms ( entire contents of working Keys folder ) and Emu folder ( make sure Comd 755 thing done ) and there ya go.....ahh..what stuff dreams are made of....

let you know how it goes in about a month !...prob try tomorrow....many thanks again for all your help folks...I will get there.....

I thought one more try...god why ??

Now have kein system ......so how do I know what is the IP address the new image ( that has not worked ) has given to my box to IFA can ring it.....? The image was Lincsat Beta 7

Fixed it...seems default 192.168.0.202....

loaded the image again and yep...fine...copied Keys , bins and emu s over from working image.....still no joy...only FTA....I give up !!!!!

don't give up just yet when you do finally get it working you'll have a great sense of achievment and the knowlege to fix the box yourself. I woud recommend trying the lakey sylus christmas image. it's one of the simplest to set up. We will get you up and running.

I'll let you know in a few weeks if I try any more with a fresh image.

the evocamd i was using worked on my img but wouldn't work on c10d, then i switched and all ok
