Hang on a minute- you say you're on broadband only. So you must be using a splitter, with 2 patch leads; one to the CM and one to the dbox. If both those leads are fairly short, then the CM can interfere with the dbox signal. Make one of the leads 5 metres or more (even if it is neatly coiled up and tucked away out of sight).

And at no point have you told us what sort of box this is! (Well fergalsworld did point out earlier that squeezing info out of you was like trying to poke butter up a porcupine's arse using a hot knife, LOL!)

My guess is that it's a Sagem, in which case it's nothing unusual to see a very low reading reported for SIG, even 0. But your BER and SNR figures look good. So consider my theory, which is actually based on personal experience here.

Oh, and broadband only from VM is ?20 pcm on DD and eBilling. For ?25 pcm, you could be on 10mb broadband, phone, and free digital TV!! The latter is handy for BBC iPlayer, Catch-up TV etc. It also guarantees QOS for the digi TV service into your abode, as broadband will work fine on a shite signal (again, from experience of a crushed cable here)...

      Cheers- AL

Hi PaphosAL ,I do have a Sagem and i do have a splitter with the lead going to my Sagem dbox being about 7mt and the other lead going to my broadband modem being 1ft long.

With that said i take it i need a longer lead going to my broadband modem then.

Try it without the splitter and modem put a direct feed from the wall to the box if the freezing dissapears lengthening the lead to the modem.

Sorry about the misnomer above, Fergal (oops!). Yes, that's the best way to test it, by going direct from the wall socket to the dbox, temporarily. If it still plays up, maybe you have a mate nearby who has a Nokia that could be tested on your feed, so we have reliable signal readings to judge by?

            Cheers- AL

What next guys, my Sagem Dbox is still freezing and chirping like mad, I have flashed it with Commando x10 loaded the magic files got me a signal booster but all to no avail.
Is Commando x10 the correct image to use for a Sagem x1 or should I use another image, I had Andromeda on before Commando and that still did the same.
And finally which is the best Dbox to buy as I am going to get another one.

Go for a nokia dbox2 from a German seller who has 100% feedback. Be prepared to pay a little extra for one that guarantees no stripes in the display, or has a new blue LCD fitted. Also double-check the description to verify the box is in debug mode!

Avoid boxes from UK Sellers like the plague...

                              Good luck- AL
