dbox serious probs PLEASE help anyone !!

hi all
ok so i decided to load up the new commando 11 image and i thought things were going......until i switched the box back on...

basically i managed to do the following:
change the network settings in the dbox successfully
ftp to the dbox via wireless successfully
flash the image.....took ages and my dam laptop crashed...now when i boot up the dbox all it does is show the commando image and thats it.......i cannot get the box to respond even by pressing the home or dbox key or any other key, all it does is just show the commando image !! therfore i cant get back into settings menu to reflash or anything .
please please please can anyone help.....its taken me 3days of pain...arhhhh
the last resort i can now see is reflashing via crossover cable using IFA (so i have ordered a crossover cable for a few quid from eeebay) but now i dont think that will work either cus surely i still need to get the ip settings from the dbox and thats not possible if the box doesnt respond !!
PLEASE can anyone advise .......... im getting alot of grief for this

ifa sets its own ip addy so that will work......

try using this ip addy to see if ftp connects

mate i run the blade image on my box
i use the x over cable and the null modem cable
i can do a back up of my image and set the default ip for you so u can put your service and bouquets for your area ? where abouts you come from if its local u can just flash on to ur box and vola

nah still no joy with that ip addy

i forgot to mention the whole reason why i started the image upgrade was because my current commando image was causing my box to freeze and also when you switch on the dbox and all the writing loads up on the screen in white.....my writing was in blue and you can see all blue dots over the screen .....i mean what the hecks that about ??! some people at work said it could be a corrupt image or it may have something to do with signal strength ?!?!

ok ive read the ifa tutorial for dummys like me and im hoping that as soon as i get my crossover cable i can simply hook up and run with my pc and get the dam box flashed back to normal, so all i will have to do is reload the magic files etc.....

hopefully that will work......as you can imagine im not flavour of the month in the house at the mo !!

danny im in leicester - ive not heard of the blade image ive always stuck with commando ones - mainly due to techy mates always doing this sort of stuff for me - but i think its about time i learnt !!

Don't worry mate IFA will sort your box out & when you have sused out how to use you should try out different images to see the differences in them & how well your box works with them

ok this is all effed up !!
my laptop doesnt have a dam null modem cable connection (5pin and 4 pin thats required) it has a 3 level pin thing

anyway after connecting the other cable the dbox flashing window at the bottom just says ping failed - so to me thats saying its not connecting to the dbox

if anyone can help much appreciated - if not im smashing the crap out of this box tomoro ive had enough of it - think i'll get a dreambox instead

Are you flashing via your router?

Connect dbox to your router and then use the wireless connection to do the flash or disable wireless and hard wire your lappy to the router.

mate, ye can buy a serial to usb convertor t allow u to connect the null cable!!
