tick the dhcp and reboot the box
your computer will assign a new ip address
      use that, works for me

What I do to flash my Dbox2 with an image is
Connect my PC and Dbox2 to a router
            Dbox2 Settings, Network Settings,
Change IP Address only to a free IP Address 192.168.1.10 usually works
            Restart Network
            Test Network
If It's reachable put it into you FTP program with root as username and depending what image your password may differ, But Commando images have commando as their password
If up and running FTP your image to the TMP
            Go back to Dbox2
            Dbox2 Services
            Image Upgrade / Backup
            Flash one partition
            Flash without bootloader
Then you should see the image you put in the TMP folder
            OK and walla

To get the box working again you need the Magic Files, I don't know where these are

In answer to your earlier question, Use dbox2 image flashing assistant. Power off box 1st. Use null modem cable from serial port to port on dbox.. Select your port. press start. Then power up the box to flash. Should see the status bar now. Just in case anyone else is having problems with ips.

You need a crossover network cable for a direct connection between dbox and pc.
If you own a router a normal patch cable will do.

Do you have a Router ?

If you do connect your Router to your Modem
Get 2 ethernet cables and connect 1 to your PC and the other to your DBox

Then on your Dbox go to Network Settings
in IP Address and only IP Address enter 192.168.1.8 or 10.0.0.8
0.0.0.0 all the rest like sumnet mask etc.
                            Turn DHCP on
                            Restart / Test Network
If the IP Address is reachable your halfway there

I'd recommend Classic FTP = FTP Client Software - Compare and download free FTP Programs as It's Free, Easy and does the job

In Classic FTP click Connect, New Site
                            Label : Anything
                            FTP Server : 192.168.1.8 or 10.0.0.8
                            Username : root
Password : commando ( If a commando image)

                            Click Test FTP Settings
and If that doesn't work then your bunched
