HELP PLEASE WITH MY cable d-box

hi all
need help please, new to this etc
anyway my sadgem kt cable d-box aint getting all its channels it should, in fact only getting bog standard rubbish.
I have scanned it over and over, but still same.
happened before and bloke sorted it with a laptop in 5 mins.
does it need this prog again?
how do i do it etc etc etc etc
think u no wat and were am comming from
