You need another ethernet cable to connect your box to your router without disconnecting your pc from the router.

connect your router to dreambox via normal RJ ethenet cable....enable DHCP in network settings on dbox, the unplug and plug back in dbox, router and modem so the dbox gets assigned a network addy, write down what ip it gets assigned then have a look at these guides if you dont know how to ftp

what's ur lan ip addys, default gateway & ipaddress

            command prompt >ipconfig/all

default gateway should be something like 192.168.1.1

i set my dbox to an ip address in the range of my router, never had a prob.

            cheers

seems like the img is corrupt, read-only, need to reflash

Im using the Laky Sylas image...i did flash it to the commando 11 image but no EPG came so i went back to the laky sylas image

hmm...might just leave it as it is or could buy another Ethernet card and do it like that hmm...

Network RJ45 PCI Fast Ethernet Interface Card 10/100 UK on eBay (end time 16-Jul-09 23:15:00 BST)

Seen this would this be any good as i think im giving up on the connecting through router thing too much headahce haha

As Metman says if you turn dhcp on then red to save settings and when you reboot its reverted back to dhcp off and showing a ip the image has gone read only and you will have to re flash it
otherwise you will never get it to work through your router.

                      quick question.
Are you using the same ethernet cable to connect directly to your pc as you have tried to connect through the router?
if so the cable used for direct connection will be a cross over cable and will not work as a normal ethernet patch lead into a router.

I used a normal ethernet to the router and it didnt work

And when i connect it directly i use the crossover cable

I think i might reflash it and see if that helps

ps:- dhcp - off and assign an ip addy in ur routers range then start /restart network now - test network now - see how many successfull pings.........
default gateway - ur routers ip address
start network on boot - on
