Dbox2 Not Connecting to my Sky Wireless Router

    Hi All,
I have tried connecting my Dbox2 to the Sky Wireless router, have turned the DHCP on for both the router and the Dbox, used the appropriate ip for the box but still can't get a connection to the router.
I used a normal ethernet cable to connect the box to the router but it just wont work.
However, if I connect the box directly to my pc with a crossover cable, it works fine, I get the Yweb page right.
Can somebody help me out with the wireless problem please?

Turn DHCP off in the dbox. Go into your router setup and give this a static IP- ie: 192.168.0.1

    Then in dbox network settings:

    IP: 192.168.0.2
    Gateway: 192.168.0.1
    DNS: 194.168.4.100

Red to Restart network, Green to Test network, Home, Red to Save.

    Cheers- AL

i think that's Virgin media's DNS Server, i'm guessing the gateway/DNS for the sky router may be different.

Here's what i'd do, connect the dbox to the router using a normal patch lead. On, the dbox, go to Menu > Settings > Network and make sure NONE of the IP address boxes (gateway, dns, etc) have any values in, then set it to DHCP - 'yes' and network on boot - 'yes'. Save those settings.

Now, restart the router and wait for 30second/1minute as it logs in and settles down. Then, go reboot the dbox using the menus.

Once done, go into Menu > Settings > network and select 'Show Active Network Settings' - hopefully it should now have an IP

if not, have u used this box on the network before? how did u flash it?

I did all that Manofscience said but still it did not work for me. The DHCP came turn out to be OFF again after restart and the previous ip details came back again.
Yes I used the box on the network before but that was through a crossover cable to my computer and that was how I got the image flashed.

Thanks mate, I did exactly what u said but the Network test came up with these results:
Dbox unreachable, Def Gateway unreachable, DNS Server unreachable and wiki.tuxbox.org via IP unreachable.
What might be the issue here please?

If your dBox isn't saving your new network settings, then your current image (the identity of which you haven't revealed) has gone 'Read-Only'.

This being the case- you need to reflash the image with the backup you carefully saved on your PC very recently.

            Cheers- AL

I am using the LHC image 1x for the d2box. I haven't created a backup yet. Can I create it now or it's too late for that now. What Image would you recommend for the a reliable networking please?

You can try a Flash w/o Bootloader Backup, m8- but the chances are that this would be R/O too...

Telnet in and type df and report back on how much Free Space you see, pls.

                Cheers- AL

test if it is read only - leave the dhcp off

change the last 3 numbers on ipaddress to 000 press red button start/restart network now - reboot see if it still 000

i'm using LHC no networking probs......connected to cable router
