Hi guys, im a newbie and am thinking of buying a DBOX 2. I was wonderig which make i should buy ie. Nokia, Sagem etc. WHich is the best one? Also i have Virgin media at the moment so if i connect a dbox 2 to the cable line will it allow me to have all the channels for free?

    Many Thanks.

Also should i buy a dbox2 or nother type of box as all i want is to have all the channels you get on virgin media or sky..

Nokia would be my choice but a dreambox 500c will also do the job and is cheaper and smaller and also probably easier to get, but I have no idea of where the best place is to get them and Yes you just connect it if you have VM already.

Starview and Eurovox boxes do purely that. Dbox2 and dreambox do that and much much more

The nokia and dreambox are used for connecting to pc as they can do alot more, starview and eurovox are just for channels. Are you in Huddersfield as I am.

The dreamboxes and Dboxes are linux run.

Bare in mind that when Nagra 3 comes into play all the eurovox and kyrptview etc will be of no use.

But the dreamboxes and dboxes will still have some use as the can be programmed to do a lot more.

What i am stating is there is more to a dreambox and dbox than just watching tv. Videos/ Music etc can be played to them from pc.

None of the other boxes can do this.

They become nothing more than something to look at.

I got dbox2 nokia, got mine hooked to pc. Dbox's are more fiddly than them other boxes but well worth it.
Starview and Eurovox just straight flash and play.

dont bother with a dbox2 .. you are better with a DM 500c - 75 quid is all I paid few months back...smaller than a dbox2 and far more reliable as well.

You can still get a DBox, and most likely you will pay more for one, only difference is the DM 500c doesnt have the fancy LCD like the DBox.

i would go for the dream box, most of the dboxs are 2nd hand and the screens arnt always the best, mine isnt the most stable of boxes but my dream is perfect

It's all about personal choice I have a nokia dbox2 and love it because appose to euro/starview etc.... It is more "future proof" but there are a lot of new boxes coming out all the time but if you want to play with it get a Linux based one
