Because the box isn't working, it isn't communicating the network anyway so no either IP can be assigned to the box in the usual way or your box can't tell the network its there.

Just use a crossover cable and IFA. IFA uses ARP to assign an IP to your box through the MAC address (I think thats how it communicates anyway?).

Just make sure you have plenty of patience while the flashing is taking place, and then some....

their 9 pin....u don't need it to use ifa as u don't need the ip address of the dbox.....ifa assigns its own...

ethernet cable (x over if direct) should do it on its own but some people seem to only have success with both cables

An ethernet cable wont work, you need a crossover. You can use an ethernet if your going to run it through a router and then to your PC

Use IFA Portable v3.1 - this flashes via ethernet cable only first time of trying, 99.9% of the time. Crossover patch cable is needed for connecting PC direct to dBox2, or std patch cable if connecting via a router.

                      Cheers- AL

Quick! Make notes of exactly what you did while it's still fresh in your mind, then keep the notes somewhere very safe.

Coz in two weeks time, if similar happens again, you'll have clean forgotten...
