If you connect through crossover cable that means you DO NOT go through a router and connect direct. If you connect through a normal lead the YOU would hav to go through a router.

It's probably easier to buy one m8. EG Amazon.co.uk: xover cable

        THE TRUTH
        The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

If you have an ethernet cable spare and do not need it you can make it into a xover cable

          1. Cut sleeve off wire.
          2. Cut the green wire then the orange wire.
          3. Then get some connection blocks then connect green to orange then orange to green
          4. Then wrap in insulation tape
Now you have a xover cable

the cable goes into 1 of the lan output ports not the modem port

u need to set the ipaddy of the box in dbox-settings-network within ur routers lan range and ur default gateway to the routers ip addy......

what ever spare port i plug the lead into it will go orange. I have installed the dboxtv application and followed the setting up dboxtv guide and followed what it says. It says that its connected succesfull when i press the test button but there is a problem because when i load the app back up it comes up with, the application has failed to start because libvlccore.dll was not found. I have tried reinstalling vlc but not making any difference. It does say the channel that its on but no picture

what r u trying to do, just get a connection between router and dbox to transfer (ftp) files or r u trying to stream tv to ur pc with dboxtv?

i would just set up the connection first.....edit the ip addys on the dbox - start / restart network - test network and see if u can ping ur pc......once dun get an ftp app like flashfxp to transfer files.....
