    dbox2 stopped working

not had the dbox long, its a nokia dbox2.

i flashed commando onto it and copied over magic files. everything worked ok for a couple of weeks. then all of a sudden the picture started being really jerky so i decided to re-flash a new image.

the box seems to get slower and slower, it now crashes all the time. freezes and locks up. have to unplug it from the mains to reboot. sometimes it gets stuck on the loading picture, before the black sceen with image data comes on. its really really sluggish

also, when it doesnt crash, i just get black screen on every channel. no error message all the channels are there. i get about 3 seconds of audio sometimes, which then goes off, and thats it. the screen also seems to flash green for a second.

re-flashed commando 11.3 & the latest LHC image. same problem with both.

using flashxp to ftp the images/magic files over.

whats going on here is my box dead?

Does your subbed box do the same thing when connected to the same cable?

if by subbed you mean the normal vm box, then no it doesnt.

just managed to get channels on again after flashing a previous lhc image i backed up a few weeks ago. thought that had fixed it. but after 10 minutes the picture started jerking/freezing. changed the channel and got no picture, tried to change channel again and the box has locked up. ill have unplug it again now to get it to respond again, but it will crash again almost immediately when i try to do anything. grr

We need to see a boot log for the box, so that one of the boffins can analyse it and maybe give you some pointers on what's wrong, m8. At least we know now that it's nothing to do with your incoming feed / cabling.

          Cheers- AL

i have tried changing everything, emu's codes, images.

I'm going to get hold on a null modem cable and try re-flashing with that.

I dont think that will help though as using FTP seems to work fine, the images go on ok, but i get no audio or video.

Ill start the dbox up, when i select a channel i get about 3 seconds of audio, the screen flashes green, then i get nothing. Eventually the box will lock up, its as if the CPU/Memory are overloaded or something and eventually it just hangs.

its like an old PC that needs a good formatting!

how much memory does the nokia box have. some only come with 16mb and you need to add another 16mb. tells you on the lcd as box boots up

Check your connections, scart etc.....? Try a old sportster img 1.75? Maybe

Usually when you buy a box it is guaranteed if you don't alter the software which you have done.!

Have you tried disconnecting all splitters etc and plugging the cable feed into the dbox2 direct? If the dbox2 has a weak tuner, splitting the feed can cause stability issues.

What are your SIG, SNR & BER levels?
