house move, now crappy broadband

hey guys,

ive moved house and got 50meg broadband. Works awesome till I split the cable and plug in my dbox. then the speeds are all over the place! any ideas on how to sort this out? im getting between 10 and 20 meg when the dbox is plugged in.

You probably have two very short patch cables going from the splitter to a) the dbox, and b) your modem

Use a much longer (5M+) patch cable for the modem, even if it's neatly coiled up and tucked away out of sight.

As Al said try the cables he is the master on these boxes, you could also try another splitter as this could be suspect.....

Thanks guys. Turns out it was just me being a numpty. My newsgroup provider could not cope with 50 meg. Now ive swapped, im getting 6,100 KB /s
