      hi sherie, try scan first:

      1. Press "Dbox" on your remote
      2. Select "services" from the menu
      3. Select "Service Scan" (3rd down) from the menu
      4. "Scan for Services" should be set to "TV & Radio"
      5. "Bouquet" should be set to "Leave existing" press ok to scroll through
      6. "Cable provider" should be set to Sym6887 for N*L or Sym 6952 for TellyPest
      7. "Fast Scan" should be set to off
      8. Select "Start Scan"

if this doesnt work you may have to ftp some files to your box, namely a rom7 file, but you will need a computer! for this and an ftp prog like flashfxp, and an ethernet cable, and the right files

Hey guys, it's no problem, taken in good intentions :-D x

        Tommo.... you're brilliant!

The step by step instructions were great. Although, I set Bouquet to leave existing and the scan took about 30 seconds and left me with 7 channels! I then changed it to 'update' instead, which took about 30 seconds again and produced 400+ channels. Obviously I did not check all of them, but randomly skipped through and they all seemed to work.

I got my food channels back, although E4 is still stuttering. The channels are all mixed up, but I will spend some time reading the linked post you left me, thank you. I assume this means when I go the event list, I can put in order the channel listings. BBC 1 - Channel 1, BBC 2 - Channel 2..... etc. This is how I looked to see what was on TV before, rather than looking under categories, I prefered to look at all the channels listed together as an overview and see when and what started at various times on different channels (similar to the tv guide in the traditional virgin media cable remote)

There was an option for 'bruteforce for the uk' so I selected that. This does seem to have solved my problem. How do I know I have every channel possible? My brother has bugged me to try and get the espn channel so he can watch the football when he comes over. There only seems to be an espn classic or espn america, not the espn that covers the football he is on about.

Are there ways to gain extra channels the new scan provided me with? As they are all mixed up, at this stage I can see there are some channels I previously lost that came back, but fear there may be some that have not appeared.

Do I assume that whenever I start to loose my channels, because of virgin I'm starting to realise, do I do the same process again, exactly the same settings?

Because it basically replaced the 7 channels with 400+ when I clicked update rather than leave existing. Do I keep the bouquet setting on 'update' if I need to do it again?

It was mentioned about "Davinci 2.00" not being great. Do I need to change this then? If so, how?

Sorry for all the questions and long post, it's just so frustrating loosing my channels and not knowing what to do. For once I found some people that know what they're on about, you guys are obviously far more clever & technical and I want to learn to do it myself, if and when it happens again! Independant woman

Thanks again for your patience and all the help

          Hi Sherie,

Glad to hear you got the channels back, I will try to cover the other queries you have.
Virgin media do move channels on occasion so regardless of the mage you use you would need to rescan however the more uptodate the image the easier this is to do and the commando 11 image for instance can sort the channels into virgin media style bouquets.
Flashing a new image is not always the best option and requires you to connect to the dbox with your pc and transfer files across to your dbox, if you choose to do this there are a number of guides available on this forum.

You could fix the espn issue by making a new post on this forum requesting a working "services.xml" file for your area (I had a quick look in the downloads on here and there isnt one), this is the file created when you scan and you would still need to transfer this file to the dbox with your pc though so you might want to go the whole way and update your image.
On the other hand the simplest solution is to tell your brother he can't watch sports Just kidding!

Lastly the freezing/chirping on some channels may be resolved by changing the "cam" you are using with your current image, to do this you need to find the "emu" menu and I am not familiar with your image so try pressing blue on the remote and see what options come up also try pressing dbox on the remote and see if you have an extras menu or similar.
You are looking for a menu containing references to "evocam" and "mgcamd" or "gbox" and it is just a case of trying different ones to see which works best (normally an option to deactivate one and then activate another).

let me know how you get on.

          Tommo

            Hi Guys

I'm hoping you can help me again...? x

I've lost my channels again, only worse this time!

All my channels had 'error channel not available', even the standard bbc 1 etc, which I've never lost before. I turned on and off a few times, which didn't work. So decided to do a scan, as Tommo1973 suggested before, (which worked brilliantly then). As I had no channels, I think I decided to replace rather than update the bouquet... could this have been my mistake.

I now have 19 channels! All music. I changed a few other settings on the menu page, like trying different options for cable provider, bouquet etc. to see if that worked. Every time I got the same channels, after the scan saying 10 channels, but when flicking through, I had 20.... I don't know what to do, have I lost all my channels, can I get them back myself?

The computer image, software stuff is a little bit too technical for me.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I was so impressed with the help before, so easy, and it solved the problem. Maybe I was too quick to do a service scan this time .....

Can anyone help? I've got my fingers crossed

            S x

Wow, quick response, thank you Micky.

This is what I did yesterday after I only had 10+ channels.

I tried all 3 options for cable provider, bruteforce and the other 2 you mentioned. I guess I should be using the TellyPest one as my cable provider is virgin.

I tried this several times with no luck. Should it only take 30 secs to find channels, because it didn't scan for long at all. I'm really quite worried my 'quick to scan' actions have wiped it!

Doesn't matter what settings I changed, whether bouquet options or cable provider. I end up with the same 10 music channels. What could I be doing wrong?

Sorry, I am being a little pest I know

                      I always appreciate the help :-) x

it usually takes a couple of mins on fast scan, but brutforce about 20 mins, turn fast scan of in settings then scan.
what area you in?????? frequencies may have changed

at worst you may learn how to flsh your box....

                          Hiya

                          Area is Gloucester.

I mostly tried fast scan off, but did try it on aswell. Unfortunately, the same result on both occasions.

So.... flash my box? How do I do this? Bearing in mind I am, clearly , a little technically dim, and kind of need step by step idiots guides.... my brother is no good either! Hence getting great help from you guys on here! x

                            frequency:651.000
                            sym rate 6.952

                            do you know about ftp?

I assume after these I try scanning for channels again.

have you a pc at home if so while your out buy an Ethernet crossover cable(long enough to reach comp from dbox ideally)in case you need to re-flsh
Yes you will scan again after.
Did you change anything else? Like cams/ucodes?,anyway try restarting cam/. As well. Search in cable section FTP for noobs to get an idea what you may need to do
