Problems getting channels on Dbox

I'm having problems flashing the box. I've done the beginning to where you hold the up button. But i'm not getting the dbox2:root > to let go of the up button.

I must of tried about 30 times and the longest i've holded it for over 30 mins.

Any helps to what i'm doing wrong?????

You need to be using a nullmodem cable aswell to be able to type in the com window
why dont you use flashfxp and crossover cable to ftp the image into the /tmp folder and flash it using the dbox menu's

d/l flashfxp just use ur xover cable to connect if not thru router, know ur pc ip address....set ur network settings on ur dbox 1 below ie if last 3 digits of address 101 set to 100...set gateway to network address. connect thru flashfxp using dbox address user = root password = dbox2

and set your network card to 10 / half duplex

After numerous attempts i've failed miserable.

Do I still need connection to broadband modem???

I 've tried Hyperterminal with null but nothing happens. Everytime I start dbox and press up button, it just freezes.

Apologies for not being so technically minded.

How does the xover cable need to be connected???? How does the router work???? If I know how these work i'm sure i'll get somewhere.
