    IFA and 2nd Dbox2

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me with this one, my niece has recently moved out from home and I took my Dbox2 Intel 2X with commando 12 and magic files on to her house plugged it into the VM Outlet and taaa daaa we have all channels! so I ordered her one from EBay for ?80 inc P+P got the cable the twist on f connector ends and the converter to RF tested again with my working box and its fine so that rules out cable error so I brought her box back to my house where I backed up my image with magic files services and so on transferred all to her box also double checking her box is also Intel 2X which it was, now the weird thing! IFA 3.0 seems to stop at 20% but I have also read if this happens check the LCD and reboot which I have done the image seems to be on her box but the IFA has now stopped working for my box as I wanted to test the new VM+ image on my box I use and have always used my router not a crossover cable, even tried other OS's and Machines to rule out W7 glitch but same outcome on all of them. sorry to waffle on but back to my nieces box it scans 306 transponders as does my working box but finds no channels, I?ve checked the ucodes there the same as mine 001A scan settings the same cams the same everything identical but nothing I?m stuck in a rutt any help would be appreciated

1st. Try installing a full image using IFA (let IFA finish the job can take upto 20mins.)

2nd. check to see if your neices box works at your house.

3rd. Check to see if you are getting signal into box by pressing the red button on any channel then followed by blue button. The SNR should read 55000+, if below then try a signal booster. If that doesn't work then you may have a fualty tuner.

To check Signal quality on Commando 12 and Virgin+ 3.0 - it's blue then red to reach this page.

It's a highly technical page of data, so that's where T-C decided it belonged: under the Technical menu, LOL!

I'm used to using blade images. Thanks for amending what I said earlier.

You say you can ftp the box and flash it ok so why are you bothering using IFA
Anyway a few things to try first set your networkcard to 10baseT_half duplex and give it a static ip one below the boxes ip
put the image in C:/ and rename it mtd3.img
try using IFA 1.5.6 as this does not back the image up off the box it just flashes it
but i dont think 1.5.6 will work with W7.

Thanks for the reply Fergal, I have tried what you suggested to no avail, whichever way i flash this box and with whatever settings I use I am still getting no channels after it scans 306 Transponders

Back the image up from your box (read one partition and flash without bootloader)
and flash it to the other one (write one partition and flash without bootloader) both boxes will be identical no need to scan or anything
go to a fta channel press red then blue if the SNR is below 55000 you wont get any channels to work
try a slx1p booster from argos ?9.99 if it dont work you can get a full refund
return to seller because the tuner is faulty
if the latter is not possible you could try changing the BFG94 in the tuner.

Hi Fergal as soon as my image backup is flashed to the 2nd box its doing exactly what it was the first time I flashed it loads up then goes straight to BBC1 then says Error channel Not Available, Waiting for time, I think the tuner is shot in this box, I have just unscrewed my dad 1990's coax 4 port booster off the living room wall and plugged the box into that and the BER has gone to 262143 and SNR 51914 and SIG 47288 so I am going to pic that slx1p booster up tommorrow after work hopefully that should work as its a newer booster then the one I am testing with now plus its got adjustable gain.

Thanks again for your help, for something that should of been straight faward its become one big ball buster haha
