    Freeze during flash

    Hi all. Well, this wasn't the intended post to begin with, but now I have a new problem.

    Long story short, my Sagem 1x was starting to lose channels a couple of weeks back (Sportster Pro) and I had to rescan every few days to get the channels back. So I decided to flash it. Now, I have tried upto a dozen images but all bar a couple would not even scan (transponderscan failed). The couple that did scan, found channels but none would work.

    I decided to go with one of the working images, and find a fix for them - but then problem 2 arrived. The scan options all changed to satellite instead of cable (Astra). I've read that this could be down to the tuner, so that was my next mission.

    Then my latest problem. I flashed Commando 12 onto the box, but when I tried booting it up I got a green screen. Tried rebooting, got nothing. So I had no option but to try and flash another image onto it - and here lies the current problem. The box will start up, but shows nothing on screen, so I can't FTP it. If I use the flashing assistant, it gets to 6 green bars and freezes - regardless of what image I use.

    And help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Oh, and as an edit, I also have a Sagem 2x that works well (apart from constant cracking and freezing )

    Edit:
    New development, the image partially flashes. So I can boot the box to the startup screen - nothing after that. Still having difficulties FTPing though.

      Also, not sure if this helps, but when I try to use the guide in "Flashing a Dbox2 using A Null Modem Cable and Hyper Terminal", I get a scrambled message after sending the u-boot.mot file (unrecognised command). Basically, the following:

          Try a different u-boot.mot file
          what do you get in the com window of IFA when you try and flash it.

              Hi Fergal, thanks for the reply.

              New day, new scenario. The IFA is working again now, and letting me flash an image onto the box. I still have the same problem regarding channel searching though (thinks it's a sat box).

              As for the HyperTerminal, I only have 2 u-boot.mot files - the one from the guide and one I downloaded and tried a few days ago (it worked to a point 2 days ago, but now even that one has the same problem, showing all the code). I'm trying to find another one as we speak.

                  if IFA is flashing images on ok and no matter what image you flash on to it when you go to the service scan menu it has satellite details in there then the tuner is faulty
                  post a bootlog to confirm this.

                      yeah, as fergal rightly says - defaulting to sat scan means the tuner is faulty.

                      all things considered with N3 coming and the end of the dbox's near - i'd give it a decent send off an look down another route for your telly.

                          I'm trying to get a bootlog now, but the bootmanager doesn't seem to like me. Having trouble with it.

                          Yeah, the tuner seems to be the problem from what i've read elsewhere. Still, i'll try and get the bootlog up and squeeze every last ounce out of my beloved box, until judgement day arrives

                                          'Tis a sad day indeed then.

                                          As an aside then (seeing as I don't know the current location of the N3 plague), would it be worth fixing the box, or does anyone know the arrival date of N3 in Liverpool?

                                              no-one knows - but usually 3 to 4 weeks after the new cards start arriving for legit boxes
