    turd dbox

i think i have the worst faulty dbox on the planet, it has pretty much never worked.

got it back out the cupboard today after months to have another go at it.

once i instal an image the dbox just freezes on the start up image after a reboot.

got commando12 to get past the start up image ONCE but when i put the cams n keys on and rebooted wont get past start up.

the vm3 image didnt get past it once

its bad enough i cam never get audio/video on thise peice of crap, but now i cant even fiddle with the settings

    any ideas?

      nokia dbox2

      multiple images

most recently tried the latest virgin media image and commando 12

the box refuses to load, the only time it loads is the first reboot after flashing commando 12.

gonna try some more images but tbh ive always felt this box was faulty

          depends on the image

with commando some robot looking fella, with a sheep in the middle of the screen...

virgin image, some bird spreading her... arms

the lcd comes up with all the usual jargon, mention uboot etc, then just goes blank, and the box doesnt respond to anything.

just tried commando12 again and it didnt load, not even first time, before that an old vm image, loaded first time but after magic files load failed

the lcd seems to go blank after its says uboot for about 5 -10 seconds

i've used both IFA with null modem and also the flash xp method, both sucessfully flash the image, the box just doesnt boot past the startup picture

unplugged it for 10 minutes there, it loaded up, whey...

so i scan for channels after setting area etc, finds them easily enough.

then it wont load video or audio, not even on FTA channels. after trying to change the channel a few times the box starts to hang, like its under extreme load. feels like its lagging and stops responding.

this was the original problem with the box from months ago. its a piece of shit.

Maybe it is a piece of shit but the last tine you used it was it locked away? Leave power on from now maybe needs to dry out a bit? Funny things happen to dormant elec stuff.

Have you a live feed?Maybe a tuner problem any signs of solder ?or damage on Ariel socket.

have a look at the flash chip/chips they may need some resoldering (pins can leave the board contacts when the unit heats up) need very steady hand or surface mount heat blower - good luck
