DBOX2 as Satellite reciever

A couple of days ago my dbox2 went nuts and it wanted to scan satellite instead of cable. I had to reflash. As N3 is coming soon, and I have a satllite dish (currently connected to a pc sattilte card) is it possible to use the dbox2 as a satellite reciver? I have Commando 12 installed. Can I just use it, once N3 is in, as a satellite reciever instead? I only want the FTA channels on the dish. I dont know if the hardware allows both, but the other day it didnt have any option to scan cable. Now after the reflash its cable, but I dont see the option for satellite.

if it only has a cable tuner then no,,but could be used as a sat server,nothing else on the sat side

You can get satellite versions of the dbox2 but if it's a cable model you have, like cloudnineuk54 has said, then no it cannot be used as a satellite receiver.

Perhaps consider receivers like Dreambox or Technomate. If you're used to a dbox2 then a Dreambox DM500S, DM600S or DM800S would be a good transition.

Thanks. But any idea why the commando image suddenly decided it was searching for a satellite signal instead of cable? It was back to normal afer the reflash, but am just curious.

Why would it search for sat by default if it doesnt have the hardware to do so?

yes i was thinking same,how if its a cable tuner,but hey pauls the dbox guru so id go with him on that

did you not have it 2 search for sat.
as when you press dbox and go 2 services then service scan. down 2 bouquet mode you can have it scan for satellite bouquet. hope it helps?

it reverts to satellite if there is a tuner fault.
