    Flashing Dbox via Wireless advice

Is it possible to flash Dbox through wireless Router.
I always flash my dbox through Patching cable cat.5E and Nullmodem cables.

If I can flash with the wireless do I need the cat.E5 connected from my lappy to dbox?

all answers are for education purposes. Thank you in advance.

All you need to do is connect the dbox2 to one of the ports on the router, you can use a standard or crossover ethernet cable, doesn't matter, most routers should be able to handle both.

In the network settings page, in the 'default gateway' section, enter the router ip address. Give it an ip address within the router range or enable DHCP. Save settings and start/restart network.

You should now be able to ftp to the box using the given ip address. If you selected DHCP and restarted the box, you will need to go back into the network page to see what ip address the router has assigned. Copy your img file to the /tmp folder on the dbox2.

    Now using your remote...

    DBOX2
    SERVICE MENU
    SOFTWARE UPGRADE
    EXPERT FUNCTIONS
    WRITE ONE PARTITION
    FLASH WITHOUT BOOTLOADER

Select the img file from the list and then OK. It will be flashed and the box will reboot in about 2 minutes.1

    Job Done.

Make note of the options in RED above, they are important and if you choose any other option, you could overwrite the bootloader and knacker your box completely.

I always use my wireless network.

Just use yWeb and update it that way.

type the ip address of your box into your pc web browser

        select Tools

        select Image

select Flash without boot loader (you can also make a backup of the present image just in case you need to change it back).

select Flash and browse to the image you want to try.

Just remember if it goes wrong you will need to do it through IFA (image flash assistant).

For IFA you'll need wired connection even if using router. Cable from pc to router and another from router to dbox2.
