    DBOX Remote Stopped While Flashing!

Hey everyone. Just joined the site recently and it's been a great help. I have been unable however to find an answer to a strange problem I ran into while flashing the DBox. I have what I think is a Sagem DBox with two Intel chips. I downloaded and tried to install the Commando 12 flash through IFA using only a crossover cable but it wouldn't work. It stopped and just wouldn't go any further. After waiting half an hour I reset the box and found that the remote would not respond. The only way I could get into the box's menu was to use the remote feature in yWeb. Seeing as I didn't need to get into the menu to flash anyway I went ahead and flashed with ultraphat apocalypse 2 and the box was flashed in a matter of minutes.

Problem is, now when I bring my box downstairs to the main TV I can't rescan for channels as the remote isn't working? I have tried replacing the batteries, cleaning out the remote and even borrowed someone elses remote with no joy! Just wondering if there is something I might have messed up in yWeb or through flashing??

Hey guys, so I successfully flashed the box with the commando software (I realised that when I had tried before I hadn't disabled the antivirus/firewall, obviously this must be very important!). But I still have the same problem. When I boot the box back up and the software loads etc, I am greeted with the 'No channels found - press DBox button' etc message, but my remote still won't work. Whats worse is that I don't even seem to be able to access the box through yweb anymore! Is the IP address changed when you flash the box? If so can anybody give me details as I could probably access it through my laptop while its plugged in and scan for channels through the 'remote' option on yweb.

Just tested the remote using my camera phone and the remote is definitely working fine. I'm beginning to think this may be a problem with the images I'm using perhaps? Can some images cause the remote to not respond? Or maybe I jolted the box at some stage and did something to the sensor inside for the remote? If anybody could point me to where I should look in the box for the sensor so I can check it that would be a big help!

Just an update on this...I found a post somewhere by a guy who was able to provide image names and their IP addresses. Flashed my DBox with one of those and now I'm able to access through yWeb no problems. I can finally scan for channels so I'm sorted!

Still no remote response though so I think I may have damaged the remote ir on the box. Just have to change manually until I get a replacement but the box should be fine without it.

          Thanks for all the help.

Hey m8 you checked batteries? Lol

however very common problem, take the case apart very carefully! Clean the solder behind the infra red bulb with sandpaper or better still refresh the solder. But just cleaning with sandpaper usually works.... M

Ha, yeah Chris I know but its only ?10 for a new board so I might go for it.

Micky I did check the batteries and I can see the remote is definitely working as I can see the bulb light up when I use a phone camera to look at it. Do you mean to take the case of the remote apart because I already did that and tried cleaning the solder with no joy. I didn't however take the main case off and clean behind the bulb on the IR board, I only reseated the IR board cable but didn't make a difference.

Anyway, I was able to rescan for channels through yWeb and it did find over 300 channels. However Skysports etc show up but I just get a blank screen. BBC and UTV etc all work. I did choose Belfast as my location before searching so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Could it be a case of updating something else on the box? I thought IFA did everything I needed?

have you added the magic files or just flashed the image to the box with IFA?

Hey, no I haven't added anything. I knew there was something I was missing. I assume these magic files can be found here somewhere. And where should I put them?
