Guide:How to FTP the fix into the Dbox for noobs

For anyone having problems or doesn't know how to FTP the Fix....

This guide was done for the DM, so i've just changed the wording for the Dbox.
i've not used a Dbox for a while and I'm doing this from memory, so if there's any mistakes let know and I'll amend them.

    **additional info**
if you are connecting to the Dbox using a crossover cable this info might help..[/B][/I]

to turn off DHCP on the dbox
    Dbox>setting>network
turn off DHCP and set the IP address when your in there to
    IP -192.168.1.10
    Sub - 255.255.255.0

    on the laptop/PC
my network place>View network connections>right click on your lan connection and go to properties.
click on internet Protocol (TCP/IP) so it highlights then click on properties.
green dot 'use the following ip address' and put in there
    IP -192.168.1.11
    Sub - 255.255.255.0
    and ok that,

before you start, turn off all your anti virus/spyware programs and turn off windows firewall. now reboot the Dbox with the crossover cable connected to the Dbox and PC.
    then follow the guide...

if you're using a crossover cable you need to turn off DHCP on your box and PC and assign a static IP address to your box and PC

          box
          192.168.1.10
          255.255.255.0

          PC
          192.168.1.11
          255.255.255.0

give that a bash and see how you get on

I am having the same problems trying to connect to the box using filezilla. I've managed to flash the image ok so I know the crossover cable is working but I can't use FTP to update the rom. Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

Just follow Mubz instruction and you should be oK to connect to your Dbox with "Filezilla" with no problem M8

                    is it a Dbox or a DM500?

no need to stress, we'll get it sorted somehow
