    Cross over cable for Dbox2

Can an RS232 to RS232 lead be used as a cross over cable or have I got to buy another type of lead?

You need to buy another lead.

You just need a standard ethernet to ethernet crossover cable.
Something like this - Crossover Cat5e RJ45 Ethernet Network Cable UTP XBox 2M on eBay, also, Network Cables RJ45, Cables Connectors, Computing (end time 04-Dec-08 17:47:56 GMT)

If you have a router you can just use a straight ethernet cable. One to go from box to router and one to go from router to pc.

My connection is straight from pc to modem ethernet to ethernet.

So I presume I could just unplug the cable from the modem and plug it directly to the Dbox!

            Is that the case?

Is there any other way to apply the fix other than using a FTP Program?

Do you have to have an internet connection whichever FTP Program you use?

Yes, the wire going to your modem is a crossover cable.
Once you're sure you've got everything you need on your pc; disconnect the cable from the modem and plug it into your box.
                  Then follow this guide: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...x-noobs-15134/

jckw - yes you can use one of the 4 slots. normally you use a straight ethernet cable for this rather than a cross over cable.

user-1 - you do not need a connection to the internet at the same time as long as you have everything you need on your pc.
