what settings do you have in filezilla then,ie
    host : dbox's ip address
    username : root
    password : dbox

what does your ip address say in your dbox.

if you are going through a router you will need to turn on dhcp in the d box network settings,start/restart network.then find out what ip the router has assigned the d box.try and connect again using filezilla using the new ip.

if you access your router and find out local users/network or something, depends on your make of router,it will tell you what your dbox ip is and anything else connected to your network.use that ip in filezilla.

usually your router ip is 192.168.1.1....type it into your internet browser

you mean you put into filezilla 192.168.1.1 or did you get into your router and it showed you a different ip.

I am pretty sure that your dbox ip isnt 192.168.1.1,what image is currently on your box.it all depends on this ip address that your router has given the dbox.you need to go into your router settings and have a look.what make of router have you got...

type into your internet browser 192.168.1.1
type your password.(if you never changed it it is linksys and admin in the u/name and password
go to status, local network, dhcp client table
it will open up another window where it will say dbox and its ip address.write it down and use it in filezilla

right, back to the dbox network settings and look for dhcp,it probably says off, turn it to on and start/restart network .then restart yor router and dbox and look in the router settings again to see if it has appeared.make sure the start network on boot is on aswell.
