Dead Max V

I have been given a dead max v I've done some reading and nothing but the jtag route seems valid.
I've checked all the outputs from the psu and there all within tolerence.
Theres no swollen caps, burnt bits.
On power up its just dead no display no responce on the com line.
So can I use my samsung stb jtag? I was looking at the pinout on the max and it looks very much like the sammy one but i havent got a sammy pinout to hand.

Edit: I've been reading here an there and seen somthing about a trojan fw for the eurovox is this true????
