Eurovox 1000sl connection issues

Hi

Just got my eurovox 1000 but cant get it connected to my laptop to put firmware on. Im running vista and have a bafo bf-816 serial to usb convertor but cant seem to get vista to recognise it been trying for hours!

i had this problem my self had to go true all kinds a stuff, in the end i just went back to my pc [xp]and done in no time

try thiTo see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow the following instructions:

1. Go to the Start Menu
2. Right click on "My Computer"
3. Select "Properties"
4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
5. Click on "Device Manager"
6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
8. Go back to your map software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port.
9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected

Follow my advice to step 7. Locate your USB Adapter (port *)

Right click on that port and select properties. Then select port settings, then select advanced. At the bottom of that tab will be a drop down box with the port selected (port * in your case). Use the drop down to select another port (eg 1, 2 or 3). If the port you want to use is already allocated to something else, you can use the same procedure to reassign that port after you have finished.
Save the selections in the usual way. The USB converter will be permanently assigned to the port you selected. s,

hi,

just got same box today (second hand). Can you tell me does your box show updating message or just scambled message?

The unit i have only shows scrambled message and am not sure if i also need to enter code / firmware.

hi steve it may need flashing try a factory reset first and a rescan if no good flash it with this Digital Kaos - Downloads - UFL_EX1000SL_24-02-09_DarX

Hi, I am a newbie and not very technically minded but need to flash my eurovox 1000sl which I received today. I am only getting the basic channels so I am trying to gain the knowledge from you clever 'peeps' on here for me to be able to do it.
Do I need to download drivers first before I can download the info to my box?
I am such a dummy when it comes to all this techno stuff so I will be having everything crossed when I pluck up the courage to flash my box. Oh, is firmware the same as flashing?? Sorry to be so thick but as I said I haven't got any skills on this kind of thing. Thanks to all who write and help on this forum, you are brilliant.

all the info you need pussyca is in the red stickies at the top of the page.read through them then post back if you get stuck.
and yes flashing the box means to put firmware on it .

You dont need to do anything there as that is only for loading a cdf file.
just click on the d/load button then switch your box on to boot up.

Have done the download and have connected the box back to the TV but all channels are saying 'Please wait code being updated' is the correct. What do I do next.

do a factory reset on it then power scan it and the leave it on sly sports 1 to update .then post back.

The laptop wont recognise the serial adpater so in device manager it shows up as unknown device, this is even with the drivers installed. XP drivers though as maplins said they would be the same.

Think i might just re-install XP as vista has given me nothing but problems to be honest.

Im going to take cable back to maplins and swap it for another model first to see if that helps.......

Really hope its easy to flash once my laptop recognises the serial adapter!

Hi Its me again. Just got a small problem. The box I flashed yesterday turns itself off sometimes. Its happened a couple of times today. Is there something I did wrong when I flashed it or is there something I can do to correct this issue?
