    EX5100PVR - Should I use a Splitter?

    Hi guys

Sorry if this is a repeat!

My query is this, I've been advised that I should run my v tv cable through a 2-way F Splitter so I can keep the v box plugged in and active whilst having my ex5100 on the other cable.

When I do this and power scan / deep scan, the level and quality are around 80% (green), although I did notice them dropping to around 10% very, very briefly before shooting back up to 80%.

Most channels are ok, view fine. But a few channels have a dodgy picture. Like the signal strength isn't good enough or something. The picture will fine for a few seconds then very quickly parts of it might pixelate or shift horizontally etc, and the sound will be broken and jumpy.

I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to the specific channel to try and fix it, or if the Splitter is affecting the signal strength on these few channels.

Like i said, it's only a few, primarily, 5k7Sprts, 5k7One, Kart00n N3tw0rk, and a few others. The ones you watch though!...

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Just read some other posts, that all advise no Splitters. Also pressed info twice on dodgy channels and they're at 81%, channels that work perfectly are strangely between 79% and 83%. Also tried the manual scan on the frequency in user installation and that had no affect.

      Thanks for your reply m8.

I just took the Splitter off so v cable running direct into ex5100. Didn't re-power scan or anything and everything works fine.

Do you know of the reason why I was advised the Splitter arrangement?

      Is it still reccommended?

      Thanks again

You know that the Ex5100 has a signal booster built in.
You can keep the splitter on and just turn the built in booster on and it should be ok.
Try it that way then you can keep both boxes on.

Thanks, I saw that option and turned it on, but it didn't make any difference that I could see.

          I'll try it again.

I'm running it without the splitter at the moment, I don't know if I'm doing the wrong thing though. Do I need the vbox plugged in and active? Am I going to get into trouble having the vbox unplugged and the ex5100 plugged in?

every break in the feed cable results in a drop in signal strength. the splitter would count as a break, so would a badly made connection. try swapping cables from the splitter.
