    Apple Mac issue?

OK. I've decided on a Eurovox 5100PVR. I've found out that there are two ways to update the box, by null modem cable or USB pen. What are these? and are they compatible with an apple mac imac or mac laptop? I don't have a pc.

    Can anyone advise please?

this is a null modem cable..

    this is a usb stick..

If you have a mac.. i'd go with the usb option as the drivers for the null modem cable may not be mac friendly

the encryption for cable is changing soon to one that is as yet un-open.. simply this means you will not be able to watch much

Do you think it would be a waste of time and money getting one of these things then?

Check with your supplier i think if you are looking to use a USB stick on a EX5100PVR there is no USB port on the Eurovox unless mine is different to others

          Safe !

Your quite safe with a mac m8, you can use both options the usb stick being the cheapest and easiest way, but if you want to spend some money then you will need just a null modem cable as suggesed by other members or if your mac has no seriel port on the back then you will need a mac compatible usb to serial adaptor like this one:

          Serialio - Products - USB RS-232 Adaptor

          also the null modem lead...

          hope this helps

            Hi
I was going to buy an EX5100, but am really unsure if any of the firmware will work from my Apple Mac. I've downloaded the firmware just so I can see what kind of file it is. But I don't recognise it.
Can anyone advise me as I don't want to part with my cash if the firmware isn't compatible.
