EX5100, Firmware and my Apple Mac - Help!!!

I was going to buy an EX5100, but am really unsure if any of the firmware will work from my Apple Mac. I've downloaded the firmware just so I can see what kind of file it is. But I don't recognise it.
Is anyone else out there using a Mac? Can anyone advise me as I don't want to part with my cash if the firmware isn't compatible.

the firmware goes on your box.. is isnt a file type associated with a MAC or PC..

You download the file from here and transfer it straight to your Eurovox.. its not meant for you MAC or a PC..

Think of:

Digital Kaos as ASDA

Your MAC as massive expensive carrier bag..

Your Eurovox as your cupboard

You go to ASDA, get your shopping and take it home.. the carrier bag is the way of transporting your shopping from the ASDA shelf to the cupboard..

It doesnt matter what type of bag you use.. PC or MAC.. the shopping isnt meant to stay in the bag

I'm a mac user, just fixed my Eurovox to receive all channels by updating the firmware.

Firstly the file I downloaded was an .exe so wouldn't work on my mac, and second the wire that comes with the box won't go into any slots on the mac(book) so you would need to buy a USB adapter.

Had to use my PC.

It is always easier to use your PC to flash these boxes and no I have nothing against Macs If you wanted to use your Mac you could have used a pc emulator and a USB adapter, (as you said), with the null modem cable.
