Eurovox 1000sl help

All cables are correct, i bit the bullet and went and got the proper ones from maplin(dont ask) , so i got the drivers with the purchase and set up everything as it should be, the ports (com&LPT) recognise my prolific usb-to-serial as com port 3. i start the ufl ex1000 v2.1 and click the big download button above the blanck box, after that a new box with com 3... with 2 progression bars underneith and a start button which is high-lighted come up. nothing then happens, if ipress start a new box appears with "The reciever was not detected"...
Now do i need to change any settings on the eurovox for it to be able to comunicate with my pc/laptop and what do the advanced settings onmy com port settings need to be, i just think something is stopping the box from communicating...
Any help or advice would be great CHEERS...

think you need to set com.port on the computer

yeh have done that, made it com port 3 in advanced settings if thats what you mean

have the box powered off,hit download then power up the box.

Hi thanks for the advise, done this a few times now, pressed download the power up the box leaving in standby mode, com3 and a highlighted start box is there but no download starts, this is doing my tree in , i know all leads are right just box doesnt want to communicate, do i have to change any settings on the box. i just seem to be getting nowhere fast, sorry appretiate everyones help...
