    Eurovox EX7000HD

Just placed my order for a EX7000hd. Hope to have it by the end of this week, if not then early next week (as long as the supplier doesn't delay shipping).

Really excited to see the difference between normal TV and HD TV as well as how well it upscales standard TV.

Will be hoping to get it flashed ASAP aswell.

Ordered it with a 320GB hard drive aswel for PVR as well as storing all my movies on.

Does anyone know if the EX7000 will play back the following formats: MKV, MP4, AVI?

Not fussed if it doesn't, but would be nice if i could use this aswell as the blu-ray player.

It will only play what you record, you can't put movies on the hard drive then play them

That's a shame, perhaps a feature that could be added to future models.

What format does it record in? and can you watch 1 channel and record another?

I finally attached the EV7000 to a big HD TV at a mates house. What a difference! I was amazed. It took a bit of fiddling, you must use a HDMI and change the 1080i setting. Switching between the scart channel and the HDMI channel the difference is startling. We were watching a comedy show on a HD channel last night, on scart cable the audience faces were blurred, it looked alright because that's what I 've been used to. But through the HDMI, the audience faces were crystal clear and I could see the coloured patterns on the comedians tie. Brilliant. The upscaling on non HD channels was definitely noticeable. BUT the menu/EPG is a mare! why couldn't they put some more effort into that.
I had to take my EV5100 home to my non HD TV, its alright, but once you see the difference its not the same anymore.

That's exactly what i was hoping to hear (and look forward to seeing).

I wanted the EX7000 for the HD, but the upscaling was something that i was hoping would be good on it aswell, as some channels on cable are really bad.

I can't wait to receive mine so i can get it flashed and start viewing in HD.

I'll be hooking mine upto a 50" LG Plasma. I've got 2 of them, so this will be hooked up to one, whilst the other is used for movies at the moment. If i like what i see i may be buying 1 more, so i have HD TV on both TV's.

Standard cable picture looks really poor on big screen tv's hence why i've paid out for this HD one.

Can you record one thing whilst watching something else?

I've bought the 320gb hard-drive, but i'm not sure how much recording i'm actually going to be doing.

But i like to plan ahead, you never know i may find more need for it in the future.

If not, then i'll put my movie collection on it, and hook it upto my blu-ray player.

Looks like i won't be getting mine till next week earliest now. Turns out that the seller hasn't dispatched it because my paypal address was showing as unconfirmed. However it's showing as confirmed for all of my other transactions.

I've emailed the seller now, however judging by how long they took to reply and tell me that there was a problem i doubt they'll reply to that email till monday now.

Such a disappointment as i was looking forward to getting the box for the Liverpool V Man U game on sunday. :-(

Here's what and where i purchased from:-

                Eurovox EX7000 HD+ & 320GB USB Hard Drive

Sorry m8 but you can't watch a different channel to what your recording. Actually you can't do anything whilst recording apart from use the info button to see channel details and you can use the exit or stop button which are to stop the recording quite obviously.

There seems to be quite alot of things that the manufacturers haven't really thought about, or intentionally not included.

I'm very new to these boxes, but judging by the extra you're paying over one of the standard boxes it would seem all you're paying for is the HD side of it.

Personally if i was working for Eurovox i would want to make the box the best of class, and that to me, means making sellable to the largest market....which ultimately means packing it with all the things people could want.

although the firmware isn't perfect - the epg is still being worked on, it is probably the easiest of all boxes to update and scan.

i may be wrong, and if i am then i apologise, but i'm sure i read that there is a format the 7000 will read, and that there is a way you can put vid clips on the usb drive to be played over the eurovox.

The box is aload of shit mate, i would put your hand in your pocket and go for sky HD it pisses all over the eurovox, over 30 hd channels and better quality SD and HD than the eurovox by a mile. I found the HD abit naf on the Eurovox, i suppose if you have not seen sky HD you will be pleased with seven channels. Beware epg freezes often and recordings fails if you dont use a decent usb stick etc. Also when you have to scan because you lose a channel for whatever reason you need to delete all channels else you end up with multiple channels, hence loss of your favourties due to this. I would get your cashback and wait for the krptview HD, thats if N3 has not kicked in by then.

ps if you can afford two 50inch plasmas surely you can afford to pay for decent TV like the sky HD box which is far superior to any HD box on the market

When you lose the channels you just need to check its frequency by pressing info. Once you know its frequency you just need to go into user installation and find and highlight that frequency by pressing ok. Then press scan (blue button) and any channels on that frequency will be scanned and found. Once the system has found channels it will ask if you want to save it which you would do. Scanning for your channels this way means you don't have your channels deleted so you don't lose your settings. Also if you were doing the scans the way you were, you should have had saved your channel info onto usb stick so you can download it back on after a full scan to get your channels settings back to how you had it.

Myself I think it's a good box but I do admit there's room for improvement.
