EX1100 'USB speed too low'

Hi,

I've just connected up an external hdd to my ex1100 for the first time and when I press the record button I get the following message: 'USB speed too low'.

Does anyone have any idea what I could do to fix this? My hdd is formatted to fat32 and it is the Lacie Porsche 500gb model.
