What are the differences these and why would you choose one over another?

basically one generally scans in steps of 8 so once it finds a frequency it then steps 8 at a time
a deep scan scans every single frequency ie step 1, it should therefore find every channel but it takes a lot longer and you will also get a lot of duplicate channels -
