That would suggest that your EX1100 is either not powered up, not connected or you have the wrong com port.
I changed the COM port from the default COM3 to my active COM1, used Bit Rate 115200 and Parity none. Click on connect, it opened and synced to serial port, then gave me 3 (IIRC) options, I loaded firmware without bootloader in about 30 seconds
Thanks for your answer Lin, however i still can't get it to work.
At first, i realised that in device manager i hadnt installed the usb-rs232 driver properly.
I've installed it fine now, but i'm still having the same problem.
I'm a little confused if you're saying you altered the device in "device manager" or in the upgrade tool.
The upgrade tool at default says 115200 and COM 3
Device manager says i have
"Communications Port (COM1)"
"Printer Port LPT1"
"Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM3)"
COM1 and COM3 produce the same error int eh upgrade tool.
At default, boths COM 1-3 are using 9600 bitrate.
I've tried changing the port in device manager so they're both on 1, i've tried disabling one oft hem, uninstalling them and reinstalling individually.
I have got the purple light problem on the EX1100 model after upgrading via USB. I have read that this can be resolved by using RS232 loader and firmware?
Is it the same .abs file required for RS232 firmware download?
I am new to this site, I previously had the EX1000SL and was using this without any problems. As a good deed a gave this to a friend and purchased the EX1100 USB. What a big mistake :-(
I have the same problem, on getting this I was able to scan and it loads the channels. However I think I need the latest firmware, I get a purple light when the cable is plugged into the laptop. I have attempted to change it to COM3 COM5 etc but nothing has worked. I have also read some posts where a USB stick has been used to upload the firmware.
Question:
Should I use a USB stick or cable to update the firmware? Please can someone provide a step by step to doing this?
I have contacted my supplier to change this box for me but no response as yet..email sent on the 14th Dec, so I will take the silence as a NO..
I would really appreciate any support on this, as I appear to be stuck with this box that simply does not want to play ball.
