    Eurovox Dead, no display

Hi, recently my trusted eurovox MaxV died (RIP). No display, no picture nothing.

I opened it up and checked over the power supply for burns etc.

I checked all power outputs with a multimeter and they are all fine.

I was told at the computer fair that jtagging would not work if there are no lights on the display at all, and that it was probably the tuner.

Is this correct, from searching different forums i'm getting mixed responses.

    Thanks in advance Tom

I think its more likely to be a power supply problem than the tuner ...not sure Im allowed to post links, but just checked on Google and they have them on Ebay, just search for eurovox max power supply ......

My Max went down a couple of weeks ago, no display, no channels. Turned it off for a few days. Display came back, numbers all jumbled up and all the channels back. Then it went dead again, completely. We mourned its passing, said goodbye to a dear friend, a family member. Switched it of again for the night like i was laying it to rest. In the morning, haunted by guilt for giving up i switched it back on, left it all day and then pressed the reset, all channels are back but no display at all, not even a red standby. Don't have a clue whats wrong with it but channels are back for a week now, no display. Like the Toyota pick up that TOP Gear tried to kill, It wants to live, come to the conclusion it has a life of its own, goes to sleep when it wants a rest and then bursts back to life. I think i own the only Toyota Eurovox Max, IN THE WORLD. ON THAT BOMBSHELL, GOODNIGHT.

The c14 cap is a common problem with these, seen it a lot. They are only cheap, less than a pound and a bit of soldering & your away. Good Luck!!

ok I have replaced the capacitor but its still dead.

Like is said before I have checked all voltages from the power supply and all the voltages are correct as printed on the board. I replaced the capacitor just for the off chance it might work but sadly not.

When it died i was watching tv and the screen went off and the box went to standby, then a few seconds later the standby light also went off
